Conspiracy Theories and the Media

On November 8, Counterpoint organised, in partnership with, a seminar on the relationship between conspiracy theories and the media. Taking place in Paris’ Gaîté Lyrique, a venue dedicated to digital culture, it attracted a range of journalists and researchers. Among the many questions discussed were: should the media talk about conspiracy theories, or is it best to keep silent? Are debunking and fact-checking the best way for journalists to cover conspiracy theories? Should conspiracy theories be treated as ‘society’ stories? How should conspiracist comments online be dealt with? And what about genuine conspiracies?

On this page we have collected the resources and outputs of the event – take a look below. Please note that the content is in French.
