What We Do

Counterpoint offers insights and strategies that help to craft democratic consent in a diverse and fragmented world.

Counterpoint has worked at the intersection of uncertainty, politics and social change for over a decade. Our aim has always been to harness a deep understanding of people’s attitudes and beliefs to explain behaviour even when the latter is unpredictable or seems contradictory.

The COVID-19 pandemic and its economic and social aftershocks are revealing the depth of existing faultlines and creating new ones. In this context, delivering legitimate decisions that create consensus is set to become an even greater challenge for our societies. For actors who know that positive change can only be delivered with people and not against them, the task will become more arduous.

From redistribution to climate change, from digital to health – enacting the necessary change will depend on understanding new power dynamics and emerging institutions and creating the necessary spaces to support and encourage them.  Only then will decision-makers once again secure people’s consent for policies and decisions.

We help our partners and funders who deliver valuable public and private goods deal with this century-defining challenge.
